Tire Offset

Hey guys,

noobie here on the forums with a '95 LE.

Will I require spacers or will rub on my strut with the following setup?

i'm thinking of buying used snow tires previously used on a mazda 3, but the steelies are
15x6
52.5mm offset.
(195/65/15)

i searched and it seems the 15" Gen3 rims are a 38mm offset. 14" rims were a 5.5 width.

it doesn't bother me if the car looks silly with the tires sticking out or inside the fender wall.

any help is appreciated. thanks so much.

You can go to the following website calculator and enter your existing wheel/tire data and the new wheel/tire data and get a quickie analysis.

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

A 52mm offset is going to push the wheel/tire closer to the suspension as opposed to pushing it out past the fenders. If anything, your wheels would look more "tucked in" than normal. That's a pretty narrow tire, so you probably wouldn't have a problem, but if you're buying them locally you might want to try them on to make sure before you buy them. You didn't say anything about the bolt pattern on the wheels. Are they 5X114.3?

thanks so much for the reply eddie926.

yes, the bolt size is 5x114.3. i just don't want anything to hit the suspension or the front disc calipers.

unfortunately, i won't have access to the camry. it's my parents' car, thus the unfamiliarity with its specs.

Reading your original post a little closer, I wasn't clear, does your parent's LE currently have 14" steelies on it or 15" alloys? And the new Mazda wheel is a 15" steely?

I have 15" factory alloys on my '95 XLE and they're 45mm offset.

you are correct. the camry currently has the 14" steelies (38mm offset?) and the mazdas will be 15" (52.5mm).

do you sense an issue?

(is there a difference between the XLE and the LE in terms of wheelbase?)
