3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My 97 Camry has 120k miles on it. Suspension wise, within the last 10k miles, the struts have been replaced, front strut mounts, and the front end links have been replaced. I also have a front strut bar.
I'm looking to order some replacement OEM parts to help strengthen the suspension of the car due to its age. What would require replacement at this point? Should I get some front and rear sway bar bushings? Would the rear end links need to be replaced? Do I need rear strut mounts?
I want to make the car more OEM-like, stiffer per say without a drop. I'm looking at the Whiteline RSB as well.
I've also looked at the list for the Whiteline Group Buy, would any of the following components be useful?
SuperPro SPF2663K Front Control Arm Lower - Front Bushing $14.02
SuperPro SPF1265K Front Control Arm Lower - Rear Bushing $26.73
SuperPro SPF2706K Front Engine Steady Bushing(6cyl):$35.35
SuperPro SPF1191K Front Steering Rack & Pinion Mount Bush Power Steering $16.26
SuperPro SPF1132-_ _K Front Sway Bar Mount To Chassis Bushing (factory) $13.65
SuperPro SPF0823K Rear Trailing Arm - Bushing Kit $44.73
Can anyone explain what kinda parts they actually are? Are the first two just front/rear endlinks and the front swaybar mount to chasis just a swaybar bushing?

first, look at the bushings to see if they are worn, no sense in buying parts that dont need to be replaced. as far as replacement stuff, it depends whether they are worn or not as well. if they are id suggest rear endlinks, rear control arm bushings, and strut mounts. if u get a whiteline swaybar, the that will come with bushings.
I am also looking to get a stiffer more performance feel to my suspension. My dad replaced shocks, struts, etc. many thousand miles back when he drove the car.
Now that a 2010 Civic has been added to the collection, my Camry feels like a fleetwood in its handeling. It is a daily driver with aftermarket 15" rims. I just want it to be tighter and more responsive in the cornering. The steering is like an old ship too. I want to bend corners like I do in my 280zx.
Suspensions are new to me. What parts should I get? Price IS a factor. I don't want to lower the car either. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
I would tighten up the chassis first, with a rear sway bar and a strut brace. Maybe a lower front brace too, since you're not gonna lower the car and ground clearance won't be an issue.

REAR sway bar... not a front strut tower bar. Whiteline, Ultra racing, and TRD make them. Expect to spend $150~$200.

Depends on your budget. I'd just go with the RSB and see how you like it. The FSTB can wait.

EnergySuspension makes front and rear control arm bushings.
Addco makes front and rear anti-sway bars.
