UK Trunk Lock Toyota Camry

Hi enthusiasts - can anyone help? I have recently bought an older Camry (M Reg. V6 3.0i ) turned the key in the external trunk lock to the left to security lock the trunk, disabling the internal trunk opener lever. The key will not now turn to the right to re-open the trunk, and the internal lever remains inoperable. Has the lock broken - or is there a trick I'm missing to re-open it?
Have consulted the owners manual - but it just informs on how to lock the trunk in the the way I have.

Trunk Lock Toyota Camry

Hi There. Just wondering if you found a solution to your problem? I have the same exact issue (with my 1994 Camry) & have come to realize that I might have accidentally activated this "feature" when simply opening my trunk. I've been researching all night to figure out what happened to my trunk lock / lever & was previously under the assumption that my lock was vandalized.

Please let me know if you have any solutions. I cannot understand how this feature is supposed to be a convenience when they do not tell you how to revert the lock back to it's normal position.

Also, I do not even know if I have a master key but whatever type of key it is, I was able to lock/unlock my trunk but not my glove compartment, however, that's a whole other issue.

Any information you might have is most appreciated. Thank you.

Well...usually the problem is contrary...We can open the trunk but we can't put the security left turn.

In my case I used to think it was a myth until I read this...
No master key [HELP]

Remember that when you lock the trunk, when you later put your key back in you have to put it horizontally(sometimes in the dark I get caught be the old habit)

So try to put the key back in and turn it clockwise with soft pulses...

Or like I said in the link I provided, get a new master key at the dealer.

Good luck with your lock

William
