If you passed an emissions test with very good results.......
i kinda smell gas when i leave the car idle for 5 mins in the parking lot
This usually indicates a gas leak; not a rich running engine. Check all gas lines and all connections for possible leaks. Check in and around the gas tank itself, including the filler pipe.

If your engine was running rich to the point of smelling raw fuel, then you would be having all kinds of driveability problems, plus your emission test wouldn't have been anywhere near acceptable. As mentioned, you may have a leak in a line somewhere, the gas cap, fuel rail, etc..
