3rd Generation 93 XLE V6 white smoke

Good day all

Sometimes when driving, does not matter if cold or hot, I can see some white smoke coming out from under the hood.

I opened the hood to see from where the smoke is coming out, it is shown in the attached picture.

It smokes for a bit and then disappears but some days it will smoke for 5-10 minutes and then stops.

Any ides why is it smoking?

Car has 134K miles

Thanks

also, can you see any drip marks under the car? it could be the power steering high pressure hose or maybe a rocker cover gasket. try turning the steering wheel lock to lock (with the engine running, of course) and see if the smoke shows up.

Well after driving today the car didn't smoke anything. it might be from the water pump. it is due to be replaced within the next 10K miles.

I will drive tomorrow and see if it smokes again

Well my car didn't smoke until today when my brother drove the car. When I opened the hood to check it out, it was already too late. the smoke was gone. But I might have found something.

I saw some fluid on the serpentine belt, not the alternator one, the drive belt in the back.

I couldn't reach it because it was tight in there.

Any ideas?

sounds like a water pump

an oil leak would leave drips on the ground since it won't evaporate/burn fast enough

Thanks for your replies. It seems the water pump needs to be replaced. Yesterday after the car finally smoked a little, I took it directly to my mechanic and confirmed that.
