I;ve never removed the EGR From the I4, Only the V6. The ones I've seen on the I4's though, have been badly rusted on. So 1st off, I'd recommend spraying it with PB Blaster (Avaliable at any auto parts store), several times, for a couple hours. Seep into the damn thing.
You can always use an adjustable wrench, or go to the store and see if there is a better tool. Hopefully someone who has done it can help you more though.
