3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
if someone knows why don't you just post the answer. I hate it when people say use the search, maybe that is obvious to you, but maybe not everyone. I personally don't know top speed...sorry or I would answer
When I was a noob, I did the same thing and made the same type of post and got ridiculously flamed for it so I'm just returning the favor. If I knew what the top speed was I would tell you, but I don't so I'm not going to search for it for you when you could do it yourself.
the gen3's have no definitive top speed since it doesn't have a speed governor. long story short, it would depend on your car, the road conditions, the weather conditions, and if you're brave enough to take a stock car on old bouncy suspension to its top speed.
'nuff said.

i've never gone over 85 mph in my camry. too many things can go catastrophically wrong at that speed and you are compromising your ability to stop at highway speeds just to begin with.

the time it takes for you stop a 3000lb car from 200km/h is too long. Why do you want to know anyways? You don't have anything to brag about if you are driving a stock Camry anyways.

...you must be one that doesnt search, huh!? No one really cares if you hate it when people say to search for the answer. So...Ill say it too....SEARCH!

I have a 2001 Camry LE V6 Auto with minor performance mods (TRD Sport muffler & Injen SRI) and the fastest I've driven on the freeway is 125 MPH. After 100MPH the car takes a bit longer to get increase in speed but if you have enough distance then you can most likely get to a higher speed. I personally think I can probably reach 130MPH but I don't want to try it again. Too high of a risk of a speeding ticket and crashing. Oh yea, I also used 91 octane premium gas.
210km/h for me. 3vz auto with aftermarket suspension.
Hits a wall at around 200 and takes ages to get any faster. Its the aerodynamics of the gen 3 that hold it back, the engine still wants to give more.
Did this on a road where the only person I could kill was myself, i knew the risks I was taking. Don't try it if you have never driven that fast before.
oh yeah, I was running 98 octane too.

I have heard the top speed of a 1MZFE gen 3 automatic is 127mph but I could be wrong...but anyways it's a whole different motor and body than a gen 4 5SFE.
