Ok, this is going to sound crazy, but...500 highway miles from one tank of gas?

When I filled up, the trip meter was at 280something, and then when I go to fill up again, 783 was the reading.

Calculating 783miles/(14.11+14.05)gallons = 27.8mpg, but 500miles/14.05gallons ~= 35.58mpg.

My guess is, it was all that cold rainy air in Connecticut just this past Friday (10/19).

I've gotten that kind of highway millage before. All you have to do is keep a steady speed between 55 and 65mpg, never stomping on the gas.

Me too. My parents live exactly 500 miles door to door from my house. I've made that trip more than once on a single tank in my '95 LE.

Yep...my parents got that kind of mileage going from Florida back up to VA after a cruize. Car had 5 adults and 5 adults luggage...and STILL got over 500 miles to the tank.

I just WISH I could get that now. Have a lot of things I need to clean/replace to get that though.

I;m going to guess you have an I4. And yeah, I have seen that before. If you just set cruise at 65 and don;t slow or speed up, thats Def atainable.

yeah, i can't do that on my drives. highest i got on my v6 was around 450, averaging out 80ish.

That's still good for going that fast. You probably cant drive 60-65 the whole way, could ya!??
