3rd & 4th Generation (19921996 & 19972001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i'm thinking getting a spare car only less than 2k for my budget...which toyota car is less trouble free? don't get me wrong...i'll do the repair for myself but this car is only for backup and better gas mileage...my budget for repair is only 1k
you think buy a car from auction is better way to go or buy online or buy local? share your experience buying car with 2k budget...need suggestion?
well the camry makes a great backup. id try to get one at an auction if u can, thats where ull get the best deal. u can get a pretty good gen3 camry for 2K even from a private party, but it will need a little work. id say a 1K repair budget will be good to fall back on.
thanks..keep your input comming...
what are the things i should look if i buy a car toyota backup (auction)? anyone has experiecing on auction (buy car)?

Because a lot of the people (myself NOT INCLUDED) here have a closed mind and are naive in thinking that a Toyota is the only option...when Honda makes just as good of a car/engine as Toyota.
If I had the option of getting another 92-93 Accord over this 93 Camry...Id of done it. BUT....you cant beat free....so Im happy and content.

Gas mileage is amazing and car is trouble free! But dont get the Auto transmission they are sluggush.
Agreed 100%. IF you do get the Auto, make SURE it is not the 3-speed Auto (Often mated to the 1.6L 4AFE). Since it has 3 gears, the mpg is garbage since it revs so high at highway speeds..

Between Honda Accord and Toyota Camry I would pick camry since it's more better for daily driving... don't have to be reving it a lil more compared to the camry but don't get me wrong hondas are fun (love to rev them shits)
Anyways this guy just want a reliable car and it's more of a dd am I right so I go for the more torquey motor. Regardless either Honda or Toyota is where it's at for the car you looking for. Corollas, Civics, Camrys, and Accords pretty good choices.
