Tail Light Failure Sensor Bypass

I have copied and pasted from another site my ordeal with this issue, any help would be great.

I have a 94 Camry LE wagon that the tail light failure sensor has gone out. I was wondering if anyone knows how to just wire around it. I know where it is and have taken it out. Yes the circuit board was fried like every other Camry, I just don't feel like going to the junk yard or the dealer to buy one.

This sensor from the dealer is $200 so I went out to the junkyard and after looking through about 15 Camry's [ most of them were already gone ] I thought I had found one that was good so I bought it. I went to the parking lot and installed it and it looked like it worked fine. Heres the kicker it was really sunny out that day, so bright that I had to put my hands around the tail lights to see if it worked, so it was really hard to check it. Well when I got home I noticed that the 3rd brake light stayed on so I pulled the panel off and the "good" unit I bought was really bad.

Here is a break down of each wire in the sensor
#1 - 3'rd break light
#2 - stop lights aka break lights
#3 - trigger for tail lights
#4 - rear light warning light in the dash
#5 - blank
#6 - blank
#7 - trigger for stop lights
#8 - power for sensor
#9 - tail lights
#10 - blank
#11 - ground for sensor
#12 - blank

I hooked up #7, #1 , and #2 together and the brake lights work just fine.

I also hooked up #3 to #9 and when I turn on the lights it blows the fuse under the dash. I have read and reread the schematics and it should work but it doesn't.

My next thing to do is pull all the bulbs and check each socket and look for pinched wires, and also check the grounds.

Any ideas?

For the stoplight:

Connect green wire with white stripe to red wire,
and also to green wire with red stripe ... at the sensor.

Yellow wire with green stripe may be left unconnected.
Yellow wire may be left unconnected.
White wire with black stripe at sensor may be left unconnected
... ground wire at sensor.

For taillight:
Connect green wire to light green wire, at sensor.

Looks like it will work ...

When referring to wires ... please use color code .... much easier to understand.
