Headliner question

When I took my headliner off my camry, I found that a huge hole had been cut to accomodate both the aftermarket moonroof/sunroof AND the assembly into which it retracts. The headliner material had been glued to the remainder of the headliner board (only about 1 ft strip left) and to the metal assembly itself. Is it normal for the headliner hole to also be cut around the assembly?

They probably needed to cut the headliner to get the assembly in. Remember, it's an aftermarket sunroof.

Anyway, I jut wanted to say that I just saw an ad from an automotive upholsterer for new headliners for $138 (installed). If this price range interests you, take a look in your yellow pages for upholsterers, then look for ads that include the word automotive (or something close). Call them and see what their prices are.

Heat, Unfortunately a brand new headliner would do me no good. It would not fit with the aftermarket sunroof. I would have to make my own headliner. Any suggestions on flat material from the hardware store that could be used as waterproof, warp-proof, lightweight headliner board??? I'm almost considering doing a two panel headliner (the original headliner on the outside, and a flat board in the middle). Don't know how that would look (probably look M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E).
