Just Got a 94 coupe - engine cut off
V6... with lot's of miles.. It's a sweet ride and I'm psyched to keep it going for at least another hundred fifty thousand...
Couple of quick questions (and I'm sure more to come in time)
Don't bash me if these are noob questions .. I've only experience repairing much older non-so-computerized vehicles.
anyway...
It looks and runs excellent. I wanted to push it, see what it could do, so I put it in pwr and floored it. Great pick up! As soon as it hit the redline the engine cut off. Is this supposed to happen to protect the engine? (I was gonna back off anyway) Put it in neutral and started up and continued driving no prob.
And then later that day the "check engine" idiot light came on... although nothing appeared to be wrong. And then 40 miles after that it went off.
Should I be concerned?
I plan on getting whatever additional tools I'll need to work on this thing myself.
I also noticed it leaking a very small amount of radiator fluid... I've yet to go in and find out where it's coming from but that shouldn't be too hard to fix.
