Hello all, I am new to this forum, I didn't realize there was such a huge and active forum about Toyota Camrys. I have a 1996 Toyota Camry I4 and I'm trying to look for better bulbs for my headlamps. Before doing that, however, I would like to know how exactly I'm supposed to replace the lamps? Also, I'm wondering where the light adjustment screws are, I found the vertical one, which is right next to the side of the car, but can't find the horizontal one. Sorry if these questions are trivial, I've had almost no experience in car maintenance, thanks for all your help in advance!
the horizontal adjustment screw is behind the headlight itself.
as far as brighter light, ya dont need to replace the lamp unless its worn. u basically just have to get a brighter bulb, like sylvania silverstar. ur only other option is to do the 9006 to 9005 harness swap to get brighter light or HIDs, both take modifications. u can search for thoes, they have been covered alot.
^^ Thanks I'm having trouble finding the actual way to take the lamp out though, or if replacing the bulb requires me to remove the lamp housing from the car first. And if so, I've been having trouble finding how I'm supposed to go about doing that. Or locating where the bulb is.
bigbird said it all, go with OEM SYLVANIA SILVERSTARS unless you want and HID kit, you can also buy the silverstars and get Depo clear off ebay. Hope this helps

Instead of having that vertical and horizontal cross-checking on the lense, it is clear, and looks 1,990% better than stock. And as far as removing your headlights... i don't even know how to explain it to you in layman's terms. You just have to reach underneath the front crossmember on the far end of the headlight.

since you're having a hard time removing your headlight, you're probably forgeting to remove a screw. The one i've forgotten before is the one behind the corner light. I'm talking about the one right next to the headlight. I believe that there is a screw holding that light which is above the headlight. Then once you have removed the corner light, you will see a nut (probably gold color).
if you don't want to remove the headlight you might be able to reach the bulbs behind it. It would be behind the body frame, not just behind the headlight. You would see wires sticking out of the headlights.
u cant get depot clears for the 96 (gen3.5 95-96).
sorry i thought u ment replace the lamp. no u dont have to take out the lamp to do so. u reach behind the headlight take hold of the bulb and twist it to the left(clockwise if ur lookin at the headlight) i believe, not real hard. then unclip the bulb harness and put the new bulb on and replace the bulb in the headlight.
No problem, thanks alot, the main thing I wanted to know was if I had to take out the lamp to replace the bulb, since I don't plan on replacing the housing (no yellowing yet, its not as clear as new, but perfectly usable).
So I presume by Clears u mean they use reflector optics instead? (Clear lens seen on most new cars nowadays?)
Should I wish to replace the entire housing in the future, I will ask again!
By the way, is the horizontal adjustment screw white? I see a white screw coming from behind the lamp, still trying to find the bulb.
A final question is whether I have to unplug any electricals before replacing the bulb?
Follow up question, I found two bulbs on the Kragen website, namely the SU, and ST, The SU is called the Silverstar Ultra, and costs $50, The ST is just called the Silverstar, and costs $20. Can anyone tell me the difference between them?
