94 Coupe, how to turn off high beam and put on normal headlights
I bought my 94 Camry Coupe a few months ago, just started driving in the dark recently but when I turn my headlights on its always high beams that are on. It pisses off people and I can't help it or do anything. Let me describe the light control, although you all probably have the same one. On the left side of the steering wheel I have the switch, I turn it to one click and that turns on parking lights, next click and the high beams are on... I just want normal headlights please help I don't want to be pulled over and I certainly don't want to piss people off.
it okay don't worry about it
ps it over the internet no one know you lol and your new here also
But it's been bookmarked, this ain't gonna die! I wouldn't check back for the responses if I were you lol!
Practice that driving a bit Phillip, with a car comes freedom mixed with a massive social responsibilty. Blinding oncoming cars is a big no-no. Stay within your sensible /legal limits for a few years.
Ah haha. I;ve pulled a stupid like that before. I thought I shorted out my interior lighting cause it would not come on, but I had the dimmer switch off.
where in CT are ya from?

I'm interested. What kind of car have you had before? I thought most cars used the push forward thing for High Beams.
Most cars have to pull the lever so it clicks for high beams. Like when you are just flashing the high beams in the camry....in most cars it will click when you do that for the high beams to stay on. The camry seems to be an oddball and you have to push it for high beams to stay on.

^^ interesting. All our cars work the same way the camry does. We have a Sienna, and the stalk works basically like the camry's, and a merc C-class, the lights are on a knob, but you push the stalk for high beams and pull to flash them.
at least you knew you had high beams. My now fiance, didn't know what high beams were till I told her, she'd been driving for 5 yrs with low beams.
I think the most annoying thing about night driving is rude high beamers. You've got the ones that wont turn em off, turn them off only for oncoming cars, people that turn them off 200 ft from you and the ones the flick em back on too early(love that one).
At least you had a very good excuse. I'm a valet, so within a minute of getting into a car, I have to learn all the little things, and there's a lot of little things on todays luxury cars. Biggest pain in the ass is car owners that put their e-brake on, on a flat surface, and then I get to sit there and figure out how it works, so I don't burn the brakes up.
