3rd Generation G3, buyers guide?

Is there a buyers guide for G3 camry? My girl friend is looking to buy
a camry 1996, inline 4. Is there any list what should I look for beside
from basic buyers guide. I mean any G3 specific problems, I should expect?

thanks,

-tishi

My only comment would be that unless you've already ruled out buying a V6, you may want to at least test drive one if you have the chance.

I own an I4 and a V6(both are 1995) and would take the V6 hands down any time regardless of the better gas mileage on the I4.

Hi Tishi, welcome to TN . Your GF is on the right track, generally the Camry is a pillar of reliability. My daily driver is a V6 wagon, although I have owned an i4 G3 before, as well as an ES300. Although the V6 is smoother, I would still consider a 4cyl (2.0 litre only, not 1.8).

On trips, the 2.0 regularly did 7-800km a tank (premium fuel) and it's power is sufficient for safe driving. If the car you are looking at is tidy, has good service history, and feels good when driving it, then it's a worthy consideration. Get a inspection if you aren't confident assessing it yourself.
