My transmission was giving me a little bit of trouble so I changed the filter and everything was fine.
Now (about 2 months and 800 miles later) it is giving me trouble again. Here is what's going on.
The car engages in gear, but the RPMs are not going up, acting like its not accelerating, and it feels like its accelerating heavy if that makes since.
5 minutes after driving it disengages gear as it will not go anywhere until I put the car in park, turn it off, turn it back on, and engage in gear again.
What do you think is going on? any help would be VERY appreciated. I am a poor college student paying his own tuition so my funds are very limited.
Head problems aren't going to affect the way the trans. shifts.
It might be a solenoid or something. Check for broken/shorted wires, clean connectors going to trans computer, check vacuum lines, check the fluid level.
The only time that I recall something like this .... driving for a while and then stopping, was when an oil pickup screen in the bottom of the oil pan became clogged with plastic pieces .... resulting from a loose electrical connector being shredded by the crankshaft.
At any rate, maybe something is clogging the filter screen of your transmission pan. After you stop driving, the debris falls to the bottom, until you start driving again and the pump suction draws the sludge or whatever up into the screen.
If it is not your transmission pan and pump, maybe it is in your oil pan. Transmission pan would probably be easiest to check though.
No, this scenario is not very likely .... but it seems to fit the problem description which you have provided so far.

Aren't forums great! Good answer, cam. Makes sense.
I was gonna suggest resetting the ECU by disconnecting the negative terminal for a few minutes, but rereading seems you may have stumbled on to the answer.
