Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
has anyone ever swaped the 3sgte intake manifold on to the 5sfe? i was planning to build a custom one but i never seen any one do it before and i wanted to know why? and how much hp gain can i get from incresing the compression to 8.5.1?

completely different intake ports and manifold design, would require massive changes to the head and manifold, pretty much impossible practicality wise IMHO. It'd be so much work you might as well just put in a 3S-GTE and be done with it.
It is already made of aluminum. The reason this would be worthless is because the shape of the head and angle of the valves in relation to the combustion chamber is designed for good fuel consumption and power.
This is a family type car. Really it's inefficient to try and get real power out of this for two reasons, price and it's FWD. A RWD car that has 240HP is much better than the same in FWD. Give it up we don't own sports cars. Ours will live longer though.
The 5sfe would be a poor candidate for a high compression tune. It was done once, netted about 130hp to the wheels. Better the low compression turbo route.
