Used tranny - what to do with it?

Any suggestions on what to do with a used transmission (Gen 4 Camry, '00 LE i4, 120K miles)? If you recall, it lost its rear gear a month ago and I just finished the installation of a replacement transmission.

So, I have the option to send the old one to the junk yard ot to repair it and sell it as remanufactured. Any suggestions? The only problem with it is the lost reverse gear - all else seemed fine...

I've seen some remanufacture kits (clutches, seals etc.) selling for $4-500. Any idea if this is the going rate for these? Is it worth fixing or selling for parts (valve body is good as are the solenoids in it and I imagine other parts are good)?

Thanks!

I wouldnt mess with it. You wouldnt be able to get much more than what you put into it...IF you get that!

Seeings how you probably arent a 'certified' technician and that it wouldnt have any type of warranty if you were to sell it as reman...it's really not worth it. Take it to the junker.

Where did you get the replacement?
if it is a rebuild shop, they may pay you the core charge for that and re manufacture it for sale later.

I think I will just return it to the junk yard from where I bought the replacement tranny. I did not pay a core charge and they won't return any $$$ to me if I send it back, but I think I will do just that as I am not looking forward to spending more $$$ on a fix that might or might not pay off (and it looks it won't pay enough to be worth the trouble, lookig at the prices of eBay transmissions).

It turned out the junk yard damaged some parts when removing the tranny. I had to replace these so I figured I might as well make a buck or two off the core and not them but fix or sell for parts... Both fluid lines were bent beyond repair, the oil pan was scratched and dented, and they damaged the socket on the park/neutral position switch so the wire harness can pull-out on its own. I had to use these off my old tranny...
