3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My old Camry is SOLD and it's going to.....Africa!?
I announced the car on Kijiji last Saturday, they called me yesterday, came in today, gave me 2500$ in straight cash, slapped a business plate on it and took off just like that.
Middle Eastern guys know how it should be done. They didn't even ask about the winter tires I was giving away, but then again, I guess you don't need them in Algeria either...
They run an import/export business in Montreal, thought that was pretty interesting, they told me by the end of the week this car wouldn't be in America anymore.
Mo-NEY!!

Lucky it was cash. Many guys get caught selling internationally with wire transfer payments. The money shows in your account, the car gets shipped, and as the car arrives in Africa, the transfer is bounced. Your account ends up in massive overdraft (or your own cash gets pulled) and you can do nothing about it. International money transfers have a 6mth window where the sender can bounce it with no reason needed.
Can't bounce cash tho! Have you checked the quality of the notes?
aren't you supposed to transfer the tittle of the car and stuff at the SAAQ. I believe in Quebec cannot just slap on an F plate and drive around you need insurance also. Unless the guy had an X plate then it would all made sense.
He had an X plate, it's all good and clear. They have their business in St-Laurent on Deguire Boulevard, they always look for high mileage Camrys and Accords and also CRVs. They probably bring the ODO back and put a 100$ paint job on them and resell.
Papariccardo : That shit don't bounce

Yeah, everything's there, hidden portraits that you see through light, correct hologram colors depending on angle.
Evofire : Yeah it's wierd, but I don't really care. Maybe it'll show up on some cool "drifting" video on youtube...
Honeslty at first I was a little nervous but when I saw his X plate and checked the money through light I was all set.
Funny : I put the bills in my pocket and decided to go take a piss, holding a bill in one hand looking at it through my bathroom light and my dick in the other. Walked out, "Here's the key!"
I was aware of all the international wire transfers going awry and everything so cash was alright with me....

I reckon market there for old high mileage japanese cars is not bad. They have little regulation there compared to us, and they can make a handy profit selling these beaters.
Man, why does your money look so cool, and our's is just boring green? I swear, the US has the most boring money ever!
Yep, I find it hard in the US - always having to read carefully the value of each note, rather than work it out fast by colour or size.
Check this NZ millenium note - surfing, skydive, etc, the way kiwis roll, yo! And it's made of plastic, cant tear it unless you nick it's edge. (I've won so many pub bets on this it's not funny. You can't tear it at all by normal means)

That's what he told me, honestly I'm almost tempted to start hunting around cheap japanese beaters to put on Kijiji. In less than 4 days I got about 30 calls. One from a student in Toronto and another from some guy in Quebec city. The rest was all Arabic guys looking to ship it out. Interesting really.

I've seen a lot of scams on Kijiji where the car is priced very low ( a 2004 VW Jetta W/ 45000 miles on it ) for around $4000 and the car is in Alberta at the Ebay car compound ( yeah right ) and the seller is a soldier in the CDN military and one of 2500 NATO troops in Spain ? **cough**...BS !!
made some damn good money for a scam....
here at the dealrr i work at, some nigerian diplomats paid 500k in cash for 14 camry XLE V6's with nav and two 5.7 tundra limited 4x4's to ship back to nigeria....its werid but some of this stuff is really legit....those camrys could be bombs now for all we know, but hey its cash in hand
