Operating temperature of AT

Can anyone please tell me what the operating temperature is for a 94 camry I4 transmission (A140)? If you're just back from a long drive and proceed to drain the ATF what will be the temperature of the fluid coming out? I understand it's never the same value so an approximate range will do. Anyone?

The trans temperature is not a specified constant value. If you took one of the thermal IR temperature guns ... and made several external measurements of the transmission pan .. on different occasions , you could probably come up with an average expected temperature. However, this average temperature would change according to the particular terrain that you had driven .... more hills .... higher temperature. Ambient air temperature would also be a factor, and maybe even driving speed.

In general, the more heat that is generated internally within the transmission due to gear friction, the higher the transmission fluid temperature. ... However, there is also a transmission fluid cooler, which removes heat from fluid and lowers the temperature.

my auto tranny A541E before I did the swap basically stayed steady at about 180F if/once it fully warmed up and basically never moved when the car was still. When the car was in motion though, the temps were drop a good 30F due to my tranny cooler.

generally speaking, when driving, the temp will go up, but my temps were moderated and lowered by a huge tranny cooler that was more effective when the car was moving (unless you get one with a fan on it)

Do you have any pics of the tranny cooler?

What kind of tranny cooler were you using? Did you have a temp sensor attached?

What is that you attached on the cooler for the winter? What is the brand of that cooler? How much did it cost?
