Strut Replacement Problem

I replaced my front struts this weekend. Took me a whole day to do too due to some lack of proper tool (breaker bar) and having to replace a cv boot. but anyways, after i finished installing the new strut, i took it for a drive. At some times when i hit a bump on the road, id hear a knock on the front pass. side corner of the car. Would an old mount cause this? i didn't change the strut mounts because it looked fine when i changed it. What else could've caused this?

sounds like the strut tower (mount) is broke....easy fix (if you take the struts out)

I've been looking around for strut mount (i never knew how expensive they are) and some of them have a "bearing" that's shaped like a ring. When i replaced the struts, we (me and my dad) didn't even notice this. And in the manual, it didn't even mention this. Im confused.

Does anybody else think that its the mount that's causing this noise? or is it something else. Any replies are welcomed and appreciated. thanks.

Its been several years since I fixed mine, but if i remember right, if you had a new one in your hands, and an old one, you would see the problems. I think mine was cracked and it had a little bit of play in it which causes that "clunk" It was real hard to see the problems until I had a new one to compare it to.

Expensive as the strut mounts are it's probably a wise move to do them when you replace the struts .

The gen 3 (92-94) didn't have the steering bearing in the strut mount, but the gen 3.5 (95-96) did.

mitsujh, please let me know how that turns out when you get your mounts replaced.

95pimpingcamry, alot of places ive searched have this as part of a 'kit.' It kinda sux how they would sell you something you don't need. i guess that's how commercials works as well
