Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys. I'm new to car stuff so I was wondering if anyone can help. I tried searching and couldn't get a staright answer. I own a '96 Camry and everything is stock. I was looking into getting some cool looking blue headlight bulbs off ebay. 8500k Blue H4 9003 Xenon Krypton HID Headlight Bulbs. Question is, will these bulbs fit my car? Or Do I need to install some HID conversion kit for them to work or something? Sorry if this is a dumb question lol. Thanks
Your car uses 9006 bulbs for low beams and 9005 for high beams, so no they won't fit. If you want HIDs I believe that you will have to retro fit projectors for proper light distribution. Also any descent HID kit will run you at least $150, probably more. I think what you're looking at on ebay is just regular bulbs, correct me if I'm wrong.
FYI - HIDs are a system with ballasts that jump the voltage up to a couple hundred, or thousand volts, and a special light bulb that handles this voltage. Ebay is full of regular bulbs that are in no way HID, but the seller labels them as such to sell more.
or just get the blue bulbs like i did, but they arent good if you use the car alot at night, or out in the country or something... if you wanna go that way let me know ill find the seller i used.

ah, great, i live in the city so night time is like daylight with all the street lights lol, i just want a cool blue look. who is the seller?
Buy whatever color bulbs you want but get the 9005. Trim the middle rubber piece and install. I would suggest buying a heavy duty relay harnes to prevent frying the wiring harness.

Check the FAQ section, this is a popular mod to get more light for price and for your low beams.
The bulbs are identical in configuration except for the guide rail and bracket, which can be sanded down quite easily (the rails took me forever, but you're supposed to cut it, but i didn't have something that could cut it)
From what i've read, the harnesses handle 65W (the high beams) safely, and you dont NEED to get a heavy duty harness, and nothing's gone wrong with my lights yet.
