HIR Bulbs?

Hi all,

I've seen the Toshiba HIRs, of which the only vendor is some guy on eBay, whose gotten rather good feedbacks. Modding them is like the 9005 mod, but easier.

My question is whether anyone here uses them, and can vouch for their alleged life times, as specified here:

http://hirheadlights.com/stats.htm

Which gives it 800 hours, compared to 150 for the 9006
And 300 vs. 60 for the 9005 (which I have)

If these figures are substantiated, then the HIRs seem WELL worth the money. (I paid $14 each for mine after rebate, they're $16 at target, versus ~30 for HIR, but 5x life)

IMO, buying any kind of 900X or halogen based bulb is a waste of money. Its much better to just do an HID retro. Not only will you save money in the long run buy not buying new bulbs every year or so(just because they say it last x hours doesn't mean it will, cuz it won't) but you'll be much happier with the results.

I have no idea how to do a HID retrofit, plus I have a 3.5, and I hear it can get messy? I don't want to eff up my lights and have to spend a whole deal.

freestylez, did you keep your lights on constantly? Cuz 8 months sounds pretty crap.

I had them. They were considerably brighter. I dunno how long they last though cause I only had them for 6 months. Broke them in a car accident. They illuminated the road quite well even with my shitty housings. Didn't get a chance to try them in new housings.
