3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Has anyone ever done or attempted to covert the climate controls on the camry to the digital ones like seen on the Camry Gracia. its one thing on my mods list to do. just wondering if anyone seen it done?
For the U.S. (and probably Canada) , Gen4 (1997-1999) had the same rotary knob climate controls across the board (CE, LE, XLE). Gen 4.5 (2000-2001) has the digital climate control on the XLE.
1st gen Solara SLE has the same digital climate control.

-install halo's - which involving rewiring the whole lighting system to a 2000/2001 system
-Gen 4.5 Trunk lid swap - done the measurements will fit with no body-moding
-install Neon, rewire stereo system (just hackneyed at the moment),install fogs
-possible suicide rear doors ( seen it on Avalon in NH @ Nopi)
- install 5 speed (since tranny is having an issue with intermittent O/D loss)
-Install Twin T4 Turbo and install are other requied engine mods ( wanted 2JZ but will not fit without driving from rear seat
- and many more
Ok to clarify the digital climate control only came in the 00-01 Camry XLE models. I also have a Canadian XLE, Butfor some weird reso I have no leather nor sunroof. I have a leather wrapped steering wheel, wood trim, XLE mags... but no leather seats :S weird!!

Not to dampen your enthusiasm nor be a naysayer, but switching over to Gen 4.5 headlights will also require the front corner lights, grille, and bumper at least - though I think you also need to change the headlight mounting panel as well? Also, the lights in the Gen 4.5 trunk lid won't line up with the rear-side lights without changing those and the rear bumper as well.
Honestly, you'd probably be better off and would save more money by selling this car and getting a 4.5...
