O2 sensor broken!

Or could it be because i removed my california spec manifold catalytic converter. I was going to install some headers for a celica GT, i figured it had the same 5SFE engine, it just MIGHT work, but it can work, it just needs alot of modification to make it fit, thats a later day, but the reason why i wanted to put headers on, was toyota told me my manifold needed to be replaced, and would cost me $1100. I didnt think that was fair when i could go on ebay and get some celica gt headers for 40 bucks. But after alot of work of removing the headers, my friends dad came out and spotted alot of problems, the header was too long, it went right into an engine mount, and the underbody pipe was dinged up and needed to be replaced and or modified to make it work, and run better.

Meanwhile, i looked at the O2 sensor and the catalytic converter sensors and they were just fried, and i believe they are original, not bad for 192,000 miles. But i wanted to know since my check engine light is on, would it be worth it replacing these sensors even tho my cat is gone?

or would it be better to look for a computer to something like another camry without that emissions hardware in it, or a celica performance computer? I'm more into cheap fixes, any ideas? by the way call me mikey

If you start swapping ECUs you're going to need to research a huge amount of data to determine compatibility. It isn't feasible for most people.

Why do you say your O2 sensors are fried?

It sounds like your friend's dad is mechanical, what does he recommend? Me, I would try to go back to original specs. Have you checked around for used manifolds? You may be able to find aftermarket replacements for the cat for a lot less than Toyota but they might not last as long.

Well i removed the cat, inside the manifold, so now the exhaust can freely move faster, car runs alot better, but i also heard that a faulty or an unreadable O2 sensor will screw up my gas mileage etc etc
