3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
When I just turn on the engine, the idling speed is kind of high with 1000-1500 rpm, and there is some noise from the hood. But once I move the car just a little bit (like start backing up the lot) this suddenly goes away with rpm drops well below 1000 and the noise is gone too.
Anyone knows what may be the cause of this and should I take the car to get it repaired somehow? Other than the noise at start I did not find anything unusual when driving etc. Thanks!
Thanks. And the noise at start up too? I think it is a bit strange for my 97 camry as I do not hear that kind of high noise from my friends' cars (Olds, civic etc).
Oops...I am really bad at describing noise as a non-native English speaker...
Let me try this: imagine the noise the engine makes during normal driving? The "noise" I heard at the start of the car is the same type, just significantly louder.
P.S: I know TN can attach photos, but how about sound clips? Is there anyway I can attach a sound clip to the post in this forum? This may help many ppl with car noise problems...
here is a picture of my car idling after starting it up this morning.
