ABS light is on

my ABS light is on after some rear struts were put in. but also my master cylinder needs to be replaced. we checked the rear wheels and it seems that nothing is out of place. nothing is leaking or anything. we tried resetting the computer with no luck. will replacing the master cylinder fix it?

also i noticed that in the ABS block, i only see three tubes running out of it. i can see theres one hole unconnected (left open). is this normal?

This may be a long shot, but do you know if the speed sensors were damaged/disconnected? That is if they have them on the rear wheels.

on the abs block, there should be 4 tubes coming out of it...one for each wheel...

from what i see on the wheel, nothing looks damaged. is there any place i can get it looked at besides the dealership?

and about the three tubes...so does this mean only 3 wheels have abs? thats really weird...

i could really use any advice here. thanx

Well, before you go hypothesizing on what the problem may be, you should retrieve the code from the car to see what it is trying to tell you. Post your vehicle specifics, I'll see if there are provisions for doing it without a scanner. Also, you have six tubes going in and out of the unit, look on the back, you'll see three more.

Nevermind, I looked at your other posts. 00 LE V6....

You need to go under the hood and use a piece of wire (paper clip, etc..) to jump two terminals in the DLC connector. There is an extra step here depending on which ABC actuator you have. If your ABS unit says Denso on it(which is the one I think you have, with three tubes on top and three tubes on the back), you have to remove this shorting pin first:

If your ABS system is Bosch, then you can skip it and just go straight to jumping these two terminals (Tc and E1, diagram on the right):

When you have these two terminals connected, turn the ignition on and the ABS light should be blinking out a two digit number. Let us know what the number is, and I'll look the code up so you'll have some idea of where to go instead of guessing.

33 is a code for the right rear speed sensor, and 11 should be a sympathy code for an open circuit in the relay circuit as the computer shuts itself down when any code is detected. Troubleshooting 33 should take care of everything.

The speed sensor is mounted on the steering knuckle and held in place with a 10mm bolt. It's a magnet that sends a signal to the ABS computer when the wheel turns. Find the sensor and look over the wire in the wheel well area for any damage that might have happened when the struts were replaced. If the sensor was taken out for some reason, make sure it is sitting absolutely flush. These things are known for being finicky if they aren't installed perfectly in the sensor hole. You can also look in hole with the sensor removed at the sensor rotor, see if there is some debris. The rotor should be clean and undamaged. Hope this helps.

They have six. Two from the master cylinder, one for each wheel. One of these units has three on the front and the other three on the back, the other has all six on top.
