SRI = Short ram intake a.k.a Warm air intake which sits in the engine bay.

CAI - Cold air intake which routes down into the fender for cooler air.

People want to extend there SRI because it doesn't do anything because it's hot ass air.

okay the major difference is tem the cal is lower so you get colder tem
the sri obviouly you dont get the colder tem
umm with the cai you might go true a puddle and since the the filter is right thier it will suck that water right into the motor and that my frined is a no no the only reason why i see that some one would want to extend it is to get it out of the engine bay but not too far to the point where it may be exposed to the elements

I sent you a PM back. I forgot to mention that a CAI has the potential to suck water up and hydrolock the motor.

SRI's do suck up the warm air and they provide a slight increase in horsepower and responsiveness. CAI's create more horsepower because it sucks in colder air from the bottom of the car where there's no heat from emanating from the engine. Most people who buy a SRI only get it for the sound, which is pretty damn nice. Also as for the sucking water through the CAI you don't have to worry about that unless you drive through a foot of water. But if the car is lowered, then try to avoid big puddles.

As to whether you should have bought the intake, what size is the tube? If it's 3" or bigger, then it will throw up a few CELs.

Also, dude clean your battery terminals. That just looks nasty.

MattyBizzle, the SRI will be fine

neither will give you any noticeable performance gains on the 1MZ-FE, so i would stick with the SRI so as not to have to worry about hydrolock, and to keep things simple & cheap

The cold air goes into the engine. Cooler air is better than hot air since it's denser.

you can place it wherever you want, but the "default" location is the same place that the air intake piping goes on the stock box .... behind the driver's-side headlight
