really bad reving problems help

i was driving my girls v6 cam 4th gen. when i punched it it jumed pass the redline and pass 9,000rpm before it swithed grears i know this is not normal. the car didnt make the noise when u pass the redline plus it's auto so it cant. then 10min later the check light came on. is the rev limiter messed up?

Get the engine code checked by autozone for free......personally I never ran into this type of issue in my 97 cam V6.

Once you have the code #....please report it here and we will help you.
