Clonking sound from Suspenion

I had replaced my suspension with the KYB last summer. now....the problem is, everytime it gets cold out there, and whenever i start driving and going over bumps, there is an annoying clonking sound coming from my suspensions. I've asked couple of my friends about it, and they all said that because since it is a gas shock absorber, it sometimes freezes if it gets cold, and therefore it will sound like hard ice inside the shock absorber eveytime you go over bumps. now...it is really true? i though gas don't freeze up.....hmmm...any suggestions??

i thought that was BS too. cause there is no way gas would freeze up. well...the clonking sounds usually comes from the front right. but sometimes would come from the rear. i'm not sure if there were sway or mounts installed. all i saw was a spring around a shock absorber when my mechanic put it on.

All 99 Camry's do this. THe strut mounts are crappy and Toyota knows about this but there is no recall since it won't affect the safety of the vehicle. You just gotta replace the strut mounts or the bearings. You got nice struts though

so, why is it that it only makes that clonking sound only when it is cold? i never had this problem during the summer time. it always happens during fall, winter, and early spring. thanks, although KYB makes good struts, i don't seem to like it. its too harsh when going over bumps. you actually feels it going over every bump. but i do like the turnings though....fast and sharp.

The cold causes metal to shrink (among other things ) that is why it clunks, mine did the same thing, when it warms up it expands and doesn't movea round as much. Sounds to me 99% strut mounts
