Middle Camry logo peice rattling when subs hit. help!
ok guys so i just got new subs in my car and i need some help. i know every trunk will rattle a lil when the bass hits. but mine is bad. ive figured out that the middle peice that says camry on it inbetween the 2 taillights is really really loose and rattles bad! and it stops rattling when i press on it in certain areas or pull a lil. any ideas what i can put behind it or how to get it off and fix it? or why it is loose? help is greatly needed! i have a 95 camry
It's held on by some bolts that go through the trunk lid. If you peel the carpeting back on the lid, you should be able to see them and see if they need to be snugged up. I'd be careful about over tightening them though as you might damage the panel.
If you can't get it to stop rattling you might look into putting some dynamat or something like that between the panel and the trunk lid.
ive had teh same problem, u haeve to cram some thin pieces of foam or other insulating material up underneith it or remove the pannel then put foam under it. i actually placed pieces of cardboard under there for a while and it worked great.
hmmm ok well im at school :p and my lunch break is comming up at 11:20 till 12:05 think i could do it in that amount of time? its 10:58 right now.. i think what imma do is see if my pre-engineering teacher has any cardboard but do u think i can get it all fixed in that amount of time? :P what kinda tool do i need to get the bolts off cause it looks like theres a long rod inbetween the bolt and the mettal thats in the way of that lil hole.... hmmm how did u do it bigbird? i think imma give it a shot :p and what i dont finish ill do after school or sumthin :P how did u go about takin it off? if u get this before 11:20 type back how u get it all off and done and where to put the cardboard at to fix it?

Thanks bigbird! i spent about an hr the other day took out the intire center peice and opened it up and laid strofoam in all the gaps and pressed it all back in and bolted and screwed it all up! it wont rattle now if my life depended on it! it sounds great! and the only thing that i get a little rattle now is from the center deck that hold the 2 6X9s any ideas for that bigbird?

i put foam strip around the 3rd braking light cover. looks hella funky but it gets the job done. and i also put some foam stripping behind the license plate. but if you have the plate frame on it, it'll still rattle.

i prety much did the same thing, weather strippin or some other insulating substance. i ended up just gettin the stripping and wedged it all the way around the underneith of brake light cover. teh preasure pushed it agains the window enough so it wouldnt rattle and i didnt have weather stripping visible around the light. but putting it between the cover and the window would work well too, prolly better.
if its commin from the pad that covers the rear deck then just find the loose contact points and some double sided foam tape or even the soft side of velcro tape(what i used) and that will reduce it well.
