Question car audio gear/equipment and weather

How does car audio gear tolerate frigid cold temperatures of the winter and scorching hot heats of the summer?

Are speakers/subs/amps/hu's...etc made in a way to tolerate weather more than the typical electronical device/product?

mine will sometimes get a little warm in the texas heat, otherwise its fine... used to have a maverick with no roof, my mtx terminators (that should date that system) and the pyramid amp (if the speakers didnt the amp totally should) got rained on and everything and didnt quit...

Refer to your manuals. They usually tell you what optimal operating temps are.

The good companies do their research and engineer their equipment to deal with extreme cold and heat.

they have to or the audio companies would go out of buisness. why would people buy somthing that doesnt work if its really hot out or really cold out? plus the hot and cold of a car interior isnt considered industrial extrems. u cant melt much at l37 degrees F.

Amps usually shut off if they get too hot, so that's not really a concern. And electronics generate their own heat, so cold shouldn't affect them, it may even help them run more efficiently, to a point. I don't see it being too much of a problem.

if the cooler and amp stay running the more efficient it will be. thus more high end amps have built in fans. like everyone been saying, it should work unless its over heating.

the rubber in the surrond of the speaker would need some warming up b/c the rubber would be harder in the cold but thats just my guess

I'm sure my car gets hotter than that during the summer. It gets up to 120 F here in the summer and down to 28 in the winter. I had a 1st degree burn on my finger from merely touching my shift knob for about two seconds.

Displays tend to be a bit sluggish and dim for a few minutes in extreme cold.
