3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
its basicly this you need to run wire from the speaker/speakers to the amp and from the amp to the headunit there is an amp input thingy on the rear of your headunit the wire from amp goes here than u need to power it i belive you run a wire directly to the battery i havent done any of this friends have but hope it helps
Depending on that info you're either gonna be using 8 or 4 gauge wiring.
Basically you run a power wire from your battery to your amp, you MUST have a fuse or circuit breaker in between.
Then you use speaker wire to connect the subs to the amp
Then you connect a ground from your amp to a ground spot on your car. The ground wire should be the same gauge as your power wire and less then 1 foot in length.
The spot you ground it on should be free of paint and any debris.

You want the fuse as close to the battery as possible because the section of wire between the battery and fuse is not protected.

If by installation kit, you mean all the wires and cables I need, then yes.
It comes with an amp, and its rated at 800W.
And another question, do I need a new headunit? My 92 LE has the basic casette player/radio.

An after market head unit should have been the first piece of equipment you got. Followed by interior speakers and then subs.
One very important reason for the new HU are the pre-amp outputs.
Many people are under the impression that sub woofers will make your music sound better. Not that they don't but without the proper upgrades, all you've got is unbalanced sound. They then complain later that they can't hear the words to the music anymore. HM I wonder why!

get a deck first! you have an older car so its much easier to get a deck installed rather than the new cars with all the fancy dashs where its like impossible to put in a after market deck. (well they make it alot harder)
pop out the u-trim below the radio. it's held in by two clips. once that is off, disconnect the cig lighter.
there's two bolt on each side holding in the radio unit. screw those off, slide the old unit out and disconnect cables. remove brackets from old unit since you might wanna use them
that's about it, really.

thats the opposite from which i did.. its not bad you just have to wait longer before putting your subs and amp to work. when your connecting the wiring harness please try to soldier and shrink/heat warp. it will pay off. if you can get those then when using electrical tape, tape it well dont half-ass like my buddy did and have his whole wiring system get fried. and zip tie it up just to clean it up and easy to pull out the deck if need. ($1200 just to reaplce the wiring harness)
