4th Generation Seat Belt Tensioner

The seat belt tensioner on my gen 4 camry seems to be very loose. When I take of the belt it does not retract. Is there any solution to this problem?
Thanks

This happened to me back when my fuckin' bro used the car ONE TIME. He jammed the seatbelt by somehow managing to fold the seatbelt over itself in the shoulder mount. I had to use pliers to unfold it. Since that day (more than 2 years ago) it has never been the same, always having to give an extra yank on the seatbelt AFTER I unbuckle. Most annoying thing ever.

Both my front seatbelts are like that. (also a gen 4) they both retract very slowly. Annoying, but not a huge concern.

I have the same problem on the belts in my '93. Just checked the FSM - it's called the emergency locking retractor. Anyone know how to fix it, though? Those of us looking to resell our Cams need to get rid of all the quirks people can use as bargaining chips, you know?

I really don't know if it works but I've read that cleaning the belt web can make quite an improvement. I have disassembled and wound the belt tighter (before I read about cleaning it) but it is a bit tricky (not too hard). Didn't really help that much however.

You could probably get one from the salvage yard or something. Though the seltbelts have explosive charges in them and they are designed to tear during a collision , so it might not be the best idea to get one out of a totaled car.
