I have read many posts concerning engine vibration from the 2.2L engine. I replaced the two engine mounts and dogbone ( all oem Toyota parts), but I still had some vibration that could be felt in the steering wheel. I never had looked at the transmission mount because I had never seen it disscused as a cause of engine vibration. Well upon inspection of the mount, the rubber was not torn, but the mount had collapsed on itself. I replaced it with and oem part and that cured the problem!!! I can barely feel any vibration now and it is as smooth as it was when I purchased it new 12 years ago. I just wanted to pass this information along.

The trans mount was not that expensive compared to the engine mounts and a lot easier to replace. The rear mount wasn't to bad. I read a post that said to access it fron the top and to use a 17mm deep well socket and a 6in extension which brings the end of the extension between the intake and the valve cover. I then used a universal joint and another extension and I could apply enought touque to break the top nut loose on the rear mount.....and no bloody knuckles!!!

Thanks for the tip ....I was getting some definite steering wheel oscillation when I drove over a certain stretch of pavement .... at night. When I drove on that same road during the day, I noticed that parallel grooves had been imprinted in the concrete .... some kind of skid control I guess. I still notice a very slight vibration in the steering wheel from time to time ... I will have to take a look at the trans mount.

I use this site for OEM parts. I have priced items at several at Toyota OEM Dealer/Parts suppliers and they are the cheapest. Click on replacement parts and go from there. They are great about helping with part # or other questions. They saved me much $$$$ on my engine mounts and other parts.
