3rd Generation Spark Plug boot trouble; 5S-Fe

hello all! i was i n the proces of doing a tune up today when i came across a little problem...those of you with the 4 cyl may have already come across this. while removing the boot( after the engine had cooled for a few gours) the last inch pf the boot stayed in the shaft, u kno that fatpart on the end that makes it a vaccuum.. how would one go about removing this boot...cuz as of now i am without automobile...a friend of mine with a 5SFE mr2 said that there's some kind of tweezer/fish-hook deal that can pull it out easy

This happens a lot, and happened to me too. What I did was straiten out a coat hanger and use it to cut up the boot a little so that it was in a couple pieces, then I duct taped a straw to a vacuum cleaner and used the suction to pull the pieces out. If you can find tweezers long enough to reach in there you can do that too.

I think I used a long pair of needle nose pliers. It's happened to me at least once on two different Camrys.

I used a wire coat hanger with about a 3/8" piece at the end bent to a right angle. I wedged the end into the rubber boot and tugged in three or four places until it came loose and pulled out.

If you cut a piece of wire like a coat hanger to about 12 inches. Sharpen one end like a toothpick then bend it about 1/4 inch up to a 90 degree angle on the sharp end. you can run that in the hole and stab the rubber suction boot and pull it right out.

Try it without sharpening it first. Just cutting the coat hanger with wire cutters puts a pretty mean edge on it. If it doesn't grab, then sharpen it.
