4th Generation Erratic idling in 1999 Camry

This problem started a few days ago. I have a 99 camry LE, 95K miles, 4 cyl, auto tranny. When I try to start it, the car would idle very very low, then sometimes the RPMS would drop down and it would stall out. If I give it gas for a few minutes to keep the RPMS up, the RPM needle will eventually jump up and it will run fine...no problems while driving or if I stop and start again. Afte rit starts, the car runs perfectly. This happens every morning and at night, after I get out of class. I think it might be the idle start valve that needs cleaning, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

You're on the right track. Start with cleaning out the idle air control motor and go from there.

Clean the EGR valve. Sometimes they stick due to carbon build up.

Sticking EGR valve generally present a problem during operation, not just at startup. A classic symptom of a bad valve is stalling when coming to a stop, as the EGR valve doesn't seat well after having opened during cruising.
