Replacing Strut Mounts or bearings?

I'm about 90% sure that the rattling in my front end is being caused by the strut mounts or bearings. Can I replace these or do I need a spring compressor? Does anyone have any experience with this?

You will need a spring compressor to replace them.

What year??

How many miles??

Yes, you'll need a spring compressor.

Buy OEM mounts, not any other brand!

you need alignment after you done with struts....if you don't get alignment done, your tight wear out unveven...i speak from experience because i replaced my front struts and hope save $ for alignment but i ended up uneven wear tires...after got alignment done, they're better now...

What kind of rattling noise are you getting? I'm having similar problems with my 94 I4 Camry, It's a metal to metal rattling noise from the front left while going slowly on slightly rough roads but no clunks while going over speed bumps. I've been trying to isolate the source of the noise but so far been unsuccessful. Strut mounts I get but what bearings were you talking about?

Why would it throw it out of alignment since you don't mess with any of the parts that keep it in alignment

did you change the rear sway bar endlinks? They also can make noise but not to sure about the clunking noise more like rattling noise but you never know. How long was it since you changed the strut mount and did you use oem ones.

when that happened it was on my stock rims with wheel covers, i sorta slid into a curb lightly (right after i got the car, first front wheel drive car i have owned...wet roads were not my friends) and ways i bumped the curb and it knocked it loose (it was clipped on the rim edge) it would slide and rattle and make gawdawful noise i thought i had broke something bad, when i figured out what it was i was much happy, tihghtened back down and it was fine...

Front strut mounts and bearings is a good thing to change at the same time because they are both parts that touch each other. Doing the strut mounts solved my clunking problems.

Change sway bar end links only if necessary, meaning take a look at the rubber seals and see if it has been broken or cracked.

Are the front strut mounts and bearings the same thing or something different?
