improve mpg

i have a 99 v6 with 175k.. the car is well taken care of and there is nothing wrong with it. there is one thing bothering me tho.. mpg.. i usually drive on the free way.. well it takes 4 min to get to the freeway, and then about 2min off the free way for me to get to school. i do about 70 on the free way and im easy on the pedal.. but i still average out 21-22 mpg.. is it bc the car has 175k or bc of the v6. what can i do to improve this?.. the car is also completly stock.. i have herd of sea foam.. but im a little ify of using it.

It because you have a cold V6...you get better milage if you were driving longer trips and the engine was fully warmed up. Also a tout for better milage is make sure your oxygen sensors are fresh - that was what I was told a lot when I was researching milage for my v6

QFT .... drive between 55-65 even, and keep the revs under 3k at all times

I've been told that downshifting to slow the car down/or to help with braking uses more gas than if you were to stay in gear and brake normally. Others have told me that in does not use more gas because you're not stepping on the gas. Which is true?

Other ways to increase MPG:
Keep windows rolled up
Tires inflated to right pressure
Regular maintenance
Take things out of the car that you don't need
Coast as much as possible

There are others too but that should help.

With differences of power to weight and driving habits 3.0 litre engines get about the same mileage, which I've found is about 20mpg. 3.0L engines suck about the same air which requires about the same fuel ratio which equals about 20mpg. Drive slowly, keep your tires inflated, shed excess weight, keep the car in good maintenance is about all you can do.

Don't top off.
Roll up all windows.
Don't use heat/ac.
Don't top off.
Always drive with at least a half tank of gas.
Lay off the pedal.
Use OD when on the freeway, don't touch the ETC button.
Pray hard.
Keep your car light, remove unneeded weight.
Pray even harder.

try using cruise control if possible, i dont know how great you are at keeping a steady foot but for me cruise control vs my control makes a big diff. i get great gas mileage driving from school to home or visa versa with cruise control and that is even at like 80 mph constant.

just try not to jack rabbit too much and you should get some good results

Judging my what my ScanGuage told me, I was receiving higher MPG and less GPH by downshifting to slow the car down, then if I had it in N or just D.

The quickest, and easiest way to apply it would be to pour it into your gas tank like any other fuel treatment.

So you're saying that the ScanGauge showed that you got more miles per gallon whenever you downshifted as opposed to keeping the car in either Neutral or Drive and braking? And also, what is GPH?
