Exterior Door Handle Compatibility

Hi,

My BIL has a 96 LE American Edition coupe, and his driver's side exterior door handle broke the other day. I'm getting ready to make a boneyard run to pick up a replacement, hence my question. I'm sure that 2-door Camrys are as rare as hen's teeth, so does anybody know if the handle from a 4-door will interchange? They look the same from the pictures I've seen, but he's 2 states away and I can't directly compare. Thanks...

BTW, he's had this car since new and is now over 280K miles with just regular upkeep. I'm partial to Acura Legends, but if they would have made his car with a manual tranny, I'd be sorely tempted. Thanks again....

I'm pretty sure the door handles for the 4 door are the same as for the Coupe! I recently ordered a new handle for my 94 coupe at the dealership. All ur friend has to do is give them his Vin # and the handle will arrive color matched. Its possible, if he's lucky, to find one on ebay the color of his car. Good luck on ur search at the Junk yard.

The handle was $99 and some change. Well worth it IMO!

Thanks for the info. Just got back from the yard and all 8 G3 Camrys had the driver's door handle removed. Guess this must really be a common problem. Anyway, I'll pass the word to my brother-in-law and let him take it from there. Thanks again!

It's probably because the driver's door handle is used more often than any other leading to increased wear and thus failure.
