Stainless steel filters are great for air flow. My Bro-in-law had one on his Supra Turbo. But I don't think it filters as well as a paper or oiled cloth filter. If you're worried about longevity, you might want to swap it out out at some point.

And without knowing the offset of the wheels, there's really no way to predict rubbing or not.

guessing from the description, its all stainless steel mess.
  • Rezton Stainless Steel High Performance Air Filter.
  • This filter is all stainless steel including the filter Element.
  • The Entire Filter Element is made from a fine stainless steel mesh.
  • This Filter will never wear out.
  • Stainless Steel Filter element does NOT require oiling.
  • Way less restrictive than paper based Filters.
  • Improves throttle response and adds more horsepower.
  • Comes with a clamp.
  • Fits 3 inch piping.
  • BRAND NEW
  • 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects.

I really wonder what the specs are on that, I would think it wouldnt filter as well, but it's just an opinion. Idk, without some kind of proof that they filter well, I think I'll stick with my cotton cone type filter.

I used to have an APC RE Edition steel mesh filter. It actually got me 1 more mpg (yes I actually calculated it with miles driven / gallons pumped). I eventually put a K&N on because I didn't want anything that said APC on my car. But remember, as with any filter more flow = less filtration.

^On a tangent of that... it's like those 15 dollar furnace filters versus the dollar fifty filter, you get wayy more airflow which is what the manufacturer wants.. .but you get less filtration of FINE particles... I wonder if those stainless filters do something of the same thing?

<> END TANGENT <>

Unless you calculated your gas mileage average over a long period of time before and after the filter change the mileage increase is meaningless. Changes in gas mileage of 1 -2 mpg per tank is not a large change as there are so many other factors that would affect the result not related to the filter.

How dusty is your environment? I travel (actually commute) to and from work and find myself resorting to secondary roads when the highway gets clogged either by emergency services, or just sheer volume. In the bottom of my air box is a considerable collection of sand, salt dust, etc, so I would suggest that you look at the bottom section of the stock air cleaner and make the decision from that.

Excellent suggestion. Anyone interested in engine life should only use the stock paper filter. Unless you do extensive engine mods that actually increase the engine's demand for more flow those higher flowing filters are useless. To prove the filtering capacity of paper over high flow just do an engine oil analysis with the stock filter and then with the higher flow one. You'll find a larger amount of silicone not using the paper filter.

saw that u updated with some wheel specs but we still need the tire size u wanna go with and the offset of the wheel since many wheels only have a small range of offsets.

that being said with thoes wheels id try to find an offset in the 30s and somthing like a 225/40 tire

I've only seen metal filters on Piston Aircraft Engines.

They do allow more airflow at the sacrifice of filtration.

However, full maintenance intervals on aircraft engines would warrant a full rebuild before you would even see the damage of less filtration anyway.
