Hi all, I have searched 8 pages but can't find an answer.
I will try my best to describe the problem because I have no clue about this...
Recently, when I turn my car at an angle, like you turn upstairs in a parking garage. If the floor is wet, I will feel like the steering is seriously wrong. If I turn left, the outer part is like it wants to pull away, with click click sound. It sounds like something is going to fall off... I have replaced the CV axle two years ago and the boot is still good. So I think the problem is not the CV axle. Normal driving on the road is fine, no problem at all.
Yesterday, I put my car up in air to change the brake. If I turn the steering wheel, I will hear click click click sound but I have no clue where are they come from. I try but cannot locate the sound, I can only describe the sound is like the problem of CV axle. I think some of the steering part is getting old, but I don't know where to start.
Does it make the sound only while the car is moving or while at a complete stop as well? When you had it lifted up, and turning the steering wheel, was the engine running?

The sound will appear while the car is moving really slow, like 5mphs and at the condition that when the car is turning at an angle and wet surface. I never heard this sound when the floor is dry. Weird...
When the car is complete stop, the sound may be here but I am not sure because I do not hear anything in the car.
When I lifted the car up, the engine was not running. I have my friend turn the steering wheel and try to locate the sound.
Maybe a brake problem (especially if you have ABS brakes)
Long shot but once the cotter pin to the axle nut retainer was loose and it would wobble at low speeds and click. Like to drove me nuts. It was a very faint noise but it was noticable.
If it is a CVC joint it will get worse after a while and become very apparent. Did you replace the old ones with new or rebuilt axles?
There is an axle retainer on the long axle (driverside I believe). If that loosens up the spline joint can click.

Is it clicking while you hold the wheel steady during a turn and rolling, or is it clicking as you're turning the wheel and rolling? I'm still not sure, maybe a loose piece of plastic rubbing a tire during a turn?
My car don't come with ABS. I discover the sound B4 I do the brake job.
I have then replace all the brake parts: brake caliper, brake rotors and brake pads.
I will take a look of the cotton pin once I have a chance... It's about 30 degrees in Chicago...
I have replaced with a reman axle. Actually I prefer axle problem because it is easy to replace. I don't like to deal with new problems. -_-
The clicking sound happen while I hold the wheel steady. The problem happen while I turn the car in a wide angle, like a 180 degrees turn in a parking garage. I think to better describe the sound will be more like a "pop pop pop" sound instead of click. I will hear click sound while the car is up in the air. If you can get it back up in the air where you can hear the noise try getting a 3 or 4 foot long piece of garden hose and track the noise down. You hold one end of the hose to your ear and probe the area with the other end while it is clicking or popping. When you bring the end of the hose near the source you should notice a distinct increase of that noise in your ear.

i think mine is making the same thing.. but if it the same case then i can only hear it when turning left. if i was slowy backing out a parking and start cranking it. it sounds like a piece of plastic is being hit but a sprocket.

I may have a garage to look at it while doing suspension job... I can't break loose the bolt even using a electric impact wrench...

I think this is exactly what happen to our cars... How long did yours do this?
Kitto, if you're having a mechanic doing the suspension he should quickly be able to tell you the source of the noise if he can hear it.
Black95cam, yours sounds very much like the CVC joint going out. It won't fall apart on you and the clicking will get steadily worse. If you inspect your CVC boots you will probably find one is torn.
