tranny issues

i have a 99 v6 auto with 175k, the car runs fine but it seems as if the tranny is starting to go.. when i first drive the car in the morning or durring the day when the engine is cold.. it won't shift into 3rd untill i hit 3k. and it seems to be really slow and delaid. also when ever i am at a stop and have to take off, the tranny seems to engage alround 1100k and jurks a little when it does.. i looked at the fluid and it was a darker red.. but did not smell burned. im not sure when it was changed last.

thanks.

If you mean the third shift (you start in 1st) then it's probably normal. It has a temp sensor limit which must be reached before it shifts that last time and it can be a bit harsh because of your speed/RPM when it reaches temp. 2nd problem I don't know.
