Question OMG! My car is heating up

I already asked King ( Eye8Pussies ) for help he told me it could be that my thermostat is stuck but i just want to make sure.

Ok here my story.

Today i was driving my car to school and back home and there was't any problems occuring whatsoever. Until i was waiting for a friend doubled park when i noticed that the temp needle wasn't where it should be at. It was like 4-5 degrees ( needle position ) above normal ( in the middle of the temp gauges ) so i was like WDF? Opened the hood and saw that the fans werent going, i was like darn i got to go and change the fuses. But once my friend got back and i began driving, the temp went back to normal. OK?!?!?
:ahhhh:
Went driving around for a while waiting for my cousin to return from a friends house, the temp rose again, i opened the hood, but the fans were running this time. I dont know whats wrong, im not sure if the radiator needs fluid or the thermostat is stuck like King said...Any suggestions?

How can you not know if the radiator needs fluid? Just pop the cap off (when it's cooled down) and check it.
