Have to wonder why the guy would tell you that you could use a 15" tire on your 14" wheel. Maybe he meant a 205/70/R14?? But, there wouldn't be much point in going to that. It would be a little wider and fill your wheel wells just a little more, but would throw your speedometer off some.
IMO, you're better off staying with the 195.

That's what my previous owner put on my car 205/70/14. Since I never drove it with the recommended size, I don't know if it makes a difference or not, other than my speedo reading roughly 5 km/hr slow. More noticable on the highway.
I would still prefer a lower sidewall height for slightly better handling ie. the bigger 15's. Not too worried about ride, Camrys already ride very well.
I'm actually doing the cost/benefit math right now; go with the recommended 195/70/14, what's on there now (205/70/14) or just upgrade to the 15" size? My tire would be the Michelin.
