okay my power steering pump is bad making so much noise i don't even wanna drive the question is can ii just remove it for a while until i can pay for a new one . is it going to cause any harm at at all other than being difficult to steer when going slow
am just trying not to have it make so much dam noise when i turn i was told that it was a bad pump thats causing that so i figured i could just take it off i dont know if you can just unplug it i will do that if its even possible ... i just need to do it for a little tho until i get the money to get another one
but keep in mind, ur mother's F100 was designed without P/S. the ratio is large so its easier to turn. but our cars are not designed without it. it wont be fun i had to drive a week with my old 95 v6 and it was a bitch, i made it work, but it sucked compared to my 72 el camino which also didnt have P/S and even it was easier.
My old Sable had a problem where the P/S would turn off and on, and let me tell you it is not fun to drive at under 5mph where you need to turn. It would be near impossible to park without P/S.
Plus there's really no easy way to disable it. You could take the belt off the P/S pump, but you'd still have to run the other accessories, so you'd need to buy a smaller belt. You could unhook the lines, but talk about some noise! I'd just deal with the sounds is making, as you're most likely gonna replace the pump anyway, let it tear itself up.
My mustang when I got it the power steering wasn't working, and it had 255/40/17's on the front. It was not easy to park. Possible, but not easy. Now I have a manual steering rack and 195/70/14's on the front, so it's about as easy to drive as the Camry, as long as you're not sitting still.

No. Dont drive without the power steering working, any more then you would drive with no brakes.
Since you are low on cash, try a junkyard pick a part type. Most of these places have a warranty (exchange only) so youre not stuck if the first pump isnt good.
if you have the I4 you can't take out the PSP.. when you do your car will start to have and eratic idle. there is a vacume line that runs from the PSP to the engine. when i put a new engine in my camry i didn't have the belt for the PSP, and my car had an eratic idle.. once i put the belt on.. it all went away. I am not sure about the v6 tho.
