I'm almost positive that the Gen 4.5 and newer has VVT-(i), although I know for a fact that the Gen 5/6 2AZ-FE I4 has VVT-i.

i dont ever recall a VVTi s- series engine....there was an hp bump for the gen 4.5 but none (not even V6) had VVTi
the 1az-fe is a 2.0l VVTi engien found in the easrly 2nd gen rav 4
the 2az-fe is a 2.4l VVTi engine found in the 2002-2006 gen 5 and 2007+ gen 6 camry 4cyl models....the engine is also found in 2002-2003 solara 4 cyls, 1st gen highlander 4cyls, later 2nd gen rav 4's, 3rd gen rav 4 4cyl, scion tC and new xB. the engine is also poised to be installed in the new matrix/vibe and corolla XRS with the forthcoming 10th generation models.

There is an S engine with VVTi, the 3S-GE found in the Altezza. VVTi was even found on 4A-GE 20V.

As far as Camry goes, VVTi is not available until 2002 on the 2AZ and mid-2003 on the 1MZ and 3MZ.

the 4A-GE had VVT, but not VVT-i

and i forgot about the BEAMS 3S-GE, which indeed had VVT-i ... as well as the 3S-FSE, which was a Euro engine, i believe
