Well what did they say that made them think that they couldn't handle it? You don't tell us much, maybe that's why no one has responded.
Did you have a look at it yourself? As in tracing all the wires to see if anything is pinched. Is the whole thing out or only bits and pieces? Do you have brake lights? etc. work with us.

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.
--Can honestly go to a parts counter and ask for brake shoes for the front brakes.
