Venom's Winter-Break Updates!

i figured i should make a little thread where i can put all my random updates from what i do over winter break .... i left the camera cord in my dorm (ill get it later today), so i dont have any pictures just yet!

so .... Christmas Eve:

well i picked up my 22mm socket, and 1/2" to 3/8" and vice versa adapaters, as well as an extension .... so i should have all the tools i need to do the suspension if it ever arrives

with some help from 95WhiteCamry, i was able to remove my rear seat cushions & deck lid crap .... basically, everything that needed to be taken out in order to reach the rear suspension - my car will stay like this for a week (i think thats about when my parts should arrive)! i have pics that ill have to update with tomorrow

with my new 6" extension, i could finally reach the spark plugs .... i knew mine were in need of replacement - a lot of miles + two sessions of seafoam - so i took all four out... surely enough, they looked pretty bad (a little rusty and worn) .... popped in those NGK's ive had sitting in the box for a few months and never got to install

well, i found a nice little present in Cyl 3 .... the old spark plug was a bit oily .... so i probably have bad valve seals, but im not going to worry about it because im not burning a noticeable amount of oil, and im still getting 30+mpg

started her up after i put the plugs in, ran like a champ .... 1k idle because it was sitting in a 30*F garage for 3 weeks unused .... back down to ~800rpm after it was warm again

KYB Front Mounts & 4 KYB Strut Boots should be here in 2 days from TireRack's Indiana Warehouse .... still waiting on Paypal to receive my $500 transfer from the bank so i can place my order for the Tokico Suspension Kit! .... hopefully that will be enough, because its $499 shipped, and my paypal will have $504 ... but im not sure if im going to be charged that stupid Paypal 3% or whatever it is

i guess thats enough of an update for tonight now for some sleep so i can get back to the garage tomorrow! my car is currently on 2 jackstands in the front ... i hope i dont awake to a loud explosion which is my car falling into the garage floor

^ i used a 5/8" spark plug socket (Service Manual said 16mm for factory plugs, but mine werent factory ... and idk if youre gonna find a 16mm spark plug socket) and a 6" extension ... anything less, and you cant reach them in the 5S-FE

took me like 30 minutes, most of that time was turning the ratchet because i swear there are a million threads per inch on the spark plugs!

Package #1 from Tire Rack (containing Mounts & Boots) was shipped yesterday from Indianapolis and is currently in Lexington, KY (only a few hrs from me) ... should be at my door mid-day tomorrow

Package #2 from KurumaMotoring [eBay] (containing Struts & Springs) has been purchased and will hopefully be shipped today from god-knows-where!

i just wanted to check EVERYTHING out before i do the install ... make sure that if there was anything else i needed to order, i got it before my parts came in

the only thing that worries me is the insulators - im hoping to reuse my old ones, but i might have to pick some up from the local stealership if mine are bad (which is possible since the rear suspension is from the factory)

and yeah, ive been driving the subie like a FIEND! .... the outback and the camry are 2 worlds apart .... for example, the outback will SMOOTHLY accelerate from 60 - 100mph and i dont even have to be WOT!

i figured Kuruma was in Cali .... thats generally how my luck works

in terms of the drop, i think its going to be slightly lower in the front, but not as low as if i had a V6 .... which is good because the front wheel wells are huge! ... and it will probably comparable to Eibach's

ill be sure to take as many pictures as imaginable!
