Will swapping my ecu get rid of my check engine and airbag light - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

I have an extra ecu for my car and wondering if i switched it with the one already in the car if it would take away my airbag light and checkengine light from the dash thanks

Why would it? It might clear them for a couple minutes, but it will come right back. Just fix your problems instead of covering it up.

It's not the ECU thats wrong, it's the sensors on the car which send a signal to the ECU, which then turns on the CEL.

If you want to rule out the screwed up ECU (unlikely) possibility for sensor problems, try it. But if the problem is not your ECU, they'll come right back.

What codes are you getting?

i don't know the codes, i have to get autozone to code me up tomorrow or this weekend it happened when i put in my gauges and tapped into a wrong wire hoping for a 12 v, yeah well i screwed up.
